The visit card

What happens before a prescription?

Begin with the health concern you came to discuss. Make room for the care professional to discuss other options.

A conversation to prepare for

  1. Your goal What needs help?
  2. Your history What are you taking?
  3. Next step What happens after?
Bring your medicine list, health history and the questions that matter to you.

Compare a screen visit with an office visit.

A remote visit

Telehealth means care through video, phone or an online exchange.

For video, choose a place where you can speak freely. Ask how to send records and raise follow-up questions.

As of October 3, 2026, Arizona did not demand an office examination before every telehealth prescription.

An examination suited to the patient was still needed.

The professional could provide only care allowed by their licence.

Rules for the exact medicine still applied.

Ask whether your examination can be done by video or needs an office visit. Ask whether their licence allows them to prescribe this medicine.

An office visit

Ask which records to bring and whether the visit price includes any tests.

Write down the concern you most want answered. Leave space to note the options and the next step.

Arizona law checked October 3, 2026, required care professionals to assess whether remote care suited the patient’s needs.

Put the examination and follow-up beside the fee when comparing visits.

If an examination or test is needed

Guidance from medical boards, checked September 17, 2026, says care professionals must make arrangements for an examination in person or tests when needed.

This was a suggested policy for state medical boards, the offices that oversee doctors.

The guidance itself was not a binding law.

Ask where that would happen, who arranges it and how it is billed.

Leave with answers to these questions.
